My son has a 2015 Macbook Pro, refurbished. Bought for about 1500 Eur.o We could still sell this machine for about 500 Euro. So we've lost about 1000 Euro in 4 years. Not really overpriced, I'd say.

The new M1s with 16GB / 1TB are about 1700 Euro. And from the reviews, only the AMD Ryzen 7 / 9 CPUs come close the these.

And the really relevant part that you do not realise is: There is a hughe ecosystem in the apple area, which is unparalleled.

For professional developers there is the windows, mac, ios and android world available as dev target. For media creators there is no better platform than mac.

But yet, you can just belittle the users.
